About Colico
Colico lies at the northern end of Lake Como surrounded by Pian di Spagna Nature Reserve and the majestic mountain peak of Mount Legnone. COLICO FORTE DI FUENTES
Located on the top of Montecchio Est looking over the Pian di Spagna area, the Fuentes Fort is one of the last remaining examples of the Spanish domain over this area. The Fort was built in 1603 to avoid any attempt of expansion from the Grigioni, who wanted to expand their domain over the Como Lake. In 1796 Napoleon Army led by General Rambeau destroied the Fort. Nevertheless, there are sill some remains showing the presence of the Spanish in this territory.
COLICO PIONA ABBEY
The Piona Abbey is located on the eastern side of Como Lake, at the tip of Olgiasca peninsula, in Colico municipality. This abbey is a clear example of the Romanic architecture, typical of the Lombardy region.

WALKING ON VIANDANTE TRAIL
The Viandante Trail (Wayfarer’s Way) is a long distance trail that runs up the eastern leg of Lake Como from Abbadia Lariana to Colico.
It is an old mule track from the Roman period. It follows the eastern coast of Lake Como, along the lower slopes of the mountains.

CYCLING ON SENTIERO VALTELLINA
The Sentiero Valtellina is a wonderful cycle-pedestrian path that runs alongside the River Adda from Colico and Bormio, covering total distance of 114 km.
Mainly on the flat or slightly sloping, suited to all the family for discovering the beautiful sights in Valtellina. You can riding following the slow flow of the Adda river, coming across historic villages, castles, churches and buildings, choosing to take a tasty break and enjoy the most typical dishes from traditional Valtellina cuisine. -
